The revised Jaguar EX retails from £33,915 in the U.K. Jaguar claims that the sedan provides better value than before and gives the D180 R-Dynamic S model as example. The dashboard has the same two-layered design with trapezoidal A/C vents at the corners, but the center stack looks different. The British have got this car all wrong.
The optional AWD system maintains the XE’s rear-wheel drive handling feel and agility but improves performance thanks to the Intelligent Driveline Dynamics technology. In fact, I’d say there’s just one rival that’s as cosseting: the Audi A4. Sales spiked by over 50 percent during the last quarter. Curb weight varies depending on spec and drivetrain, with the base model starting at 3,385 lbs and the all-wheel-drive variant tipping the scales at 3,500 lbs. The engine lineup is quite diverse.
As an executive saloon its natural habitat is obviously the corporate car park, where I reckon it looks suitably smart – especially since last year's facelift. The base model is standard with rear-wheel-drive, with an all-wheel-drive system available as an option.
Also available are various wood veneers for $400 or gloss carbon fiber for $1,300. Brakes (F/R): 13.8-in vented disc/12.8-in vented disc The company deserves credit for quickly mobilizing in response, making upgrades each year to phase in improved cabin materials, a new screen-based gauge cluster, and an improved infotainment system, among other tweaks. The Jaguar XE is a five-seater, as most cars in this segment are, but the rear of the cabin is very cramped for taller individuals. Finally, the Premium Interior Upgrade Pack adds illuminated tread plates, bright pedals, and configurable ambient lighting.
The 2.0-liter turbo engine fitted to the car delivers good performance, and the eight-speed automatic that is the only transmission option that's a good companion for it. The trunk is awkwardly shaped and inconvenient to use, and features like ventilated front seats, adaptive headlights, and tri-zone climate control are missing from the car. For starters, it’s deeper than the competition and long enough to fit a set of golf clubs. In reality, that is... an unlikely target to meet if you have a lead foot. The interior is dressed in leather upholstery, and the car itself rides on 18-inch alloy wheels.
This model returns 22/30/25 mpg on the city/highway/combined cycles. Even the rotary knobs for the climate system have multiple functions and incorporate tiny screens.
2020 Jaguar XE P300 R-Dynamic S AWD. The 2020 Jaguar XE will go on sale in the summer with a starting price of $40,895, including a $995 destination fee (AWD adds $2,000).
Needless to say, the XE sold well compared to the X-Type, but it stands as proof that taking on the Germans requires years of hard work in the technology and marketing department. Moving over to diesels, the 2.0-liter oil burners cranks out 148, 192, and 241 horsepower.
With Mercedes-Benz having upgraded the C-Class for 2018, the XE remained the oldest of the four, so this facelift was more than necessary. Its brand-new, lightweight mechanicals endowed it with a deft driving …
So, should you now consider choosing it over its German rivals? It won’t take much convincing to see what Jaguar means about the appeal of sedans, because the 2020 Jaguar XE – a facelift of the car that launched in 2015 – is a superbly capable vehicle both dynamically and technologically.
While we may lament the economy lost by culling the now-bygone diesel engines, the 2.0-liter turbo gas engine we're left with in the USA isn't too unkind to polar bears either. While rivals like the BMW 3 Series and Alfa Romeo Guilia exist, the current chassis setup on the Jaguar XE is simply not the best. The Jaguar XE comes in two trims for 2020: Base and R-Dynamic. The dash and door trims come in Gloss Black as standard, or you can have Meshed Aluminum or Monogram Aluminum for $200. Unless otherwise stated, all prices are shown as Manufacturer's It’s worth noting though that – unsurprisingly – we found the ride compliance better on the base model car (which was optioned up to 19s, whilst our HSE test cars were running 20s) than the high-spec model, even though the base model was running without the optional adaptive dampers.
The news isn't all good, however, as tire noise intrudes on cabin serenity on some roads. Opt for the Convenience Pack, and you get keyless entry, electric steering column adjustment, and additional power sockets. Introduced in 2018, the latest BMW 3 Series looks sportier than ever and packs an impressive amount of technology. Externally, the front and rear receive some minor cosmetic updates, headlined by more aggressively defined all-LED headlights and new taillights that finally bring some shape to their design, along with the now standard-fit R-Dynamic package.
It’s the pick of the bunch for those that value style, dynamic competency and individuality.
The small console that includes the shifter was also redesigned. 2020 model-year Jaguar XE tested Our full compact exec saloon review Slimmed-down range, two models tested. Our most recent review of the 2020 Jaguar XE resulted in a score of 7.3 out of 10 for that particular example. Ticking the Technology Pack ($2160 SE, $1710 HSE) adds a head-up display, solar windscreen, digital instrumentation display, wireless smartphone charging, and a rear-view camera in place of the interior mirror.
It includes a new control layout and the SportShift gear selector and JaguarDrive Control switch from the F-Type.

Also gone is the 180-hp turbocharged inline-four diesel model, leaving the P250's 247-hp version of the gasoline four as the more miserly choice.
The Mercedes-Benz C-Class starts from $41,400, which a bit more than both the XE and the 3 Series. The updated XE doesn’t stray far from the outgoing model, but it now looks sportier thanks to a handful of upgrades inspired by the F-Type sports car. The R-Dynamic also brings black exterior trim in place of chrome, a rear lip spoiler, and sportier wheels up to 21 inches in diameter.
To help make up for this, more standard features have been added.
The AWD sedan also provides better traction in all weather conditions. It's also a front-wheel-drive car in base form, but this helps it have a larger trunk that is 0.9 cubic feet more voluminous than that of the Jag. Again, Windsor leather can be specced in all available colors for the same price. And similarly, while strapping my daughter into the back would have been easier in an SUV, because I wouldn’t have had to bend down to do it, that has to be weighed against the fact that now she’s old enough to climb up into her child seat herself (and fiercely independent enough to insist on doing so), she actually finds it easier with a car like the XE, precisely because it’s closer to the ground. The R-Dynamic S offers a little more oomph from the same 2.0-liter turbo, with 296 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. That's the tale of the Jaguar XE. 2020's Jaguar XE has an interior that is vastly improved from that of older models. The options list has also been updated, adding a dual-screen infotainment system to the available features, along with wireless charging and a digital rearview mirror. Thus far, the Jaguar XE sedan has fortunately been free of recalls in the US since 2018, when an early February recall found a fuel leak in the engine bay, while another late in October of 2017 was issued for a faulty instrument cluster that would go blank. Overall, the Audi A4 is simply a better car, and we'd much rather live with it every day than the Jaguar.
All models get a 16.6-gallon gas tank, allowing the most economical models to return an estimated mixed range of around 465 miles between fill-ups. 18-inch wheels are standard across the range with 19s optional, and all models are also treated to a panoramic sunroof. In an ideal world, I’d have three cars: something luxurious, something sporty and something family-friendly.
While the front fascia has plenty of new features to brag about, the XE’s profile carries over mostly unchanged. Auto high beams and rain-sensing wipers are also included, as is lane-keep assist, a digital rearview mirror, ambient lighting, and parking sensors.
The subtle fender grille returns too, along with dual-exit exhaust pipes. This requires adding wireless charging, a head-up display, pro navigation, a 12.3-inch digital driver display, and the dual-screen infotainment system, but also gifts you a surround-view camera and automatic parking.
In addition, you get 13.7-inch brake disc rotors in front and various badges. Given our well-optioned P300 test car's $62,475 as-tested price, we'd like a little more substance from its performance.
The key cog in improving that time?
