Katharine writes about all the bits that go inside your PC so you can carry on playing all those lovely games we like talking about so much. Razer puts on one hell of an opening act. An IPS panel with a 1440p resolution, it has a 1ms response time and 144Hz refresh rate. Getting the cables to lie completely flat in their respective grooves can be a bit tricky, but fortunately each plate fixture can be easily popped off and on again when attaching new cables. The IPS panel supports HDR400, which means it has a wide color gamut and a high maximum brightness. As a result, it’s hard to recommend the Razer Raptor when the AOC Agon AG273QX (and the MSI Optix MAG272CQR, for that matter) is so much cheaper. Thank you for signing up to Laptop Mag. When I tested the monitor on its default settings with the brightness set to 100%, for example, my X-Rite i1 DisplayPro calibrator returned a practically perfect sRGB colour gamut coverage result of 99.9%. Generally, whatever the game and whatever the PC can put out, the Raptor perfects. With the Raptor 27, Razer has proven that it still has tricks up its sleeve. For Final Fantasy XV, however, I had to switch on Windows’ HDR settings before the game’s HDR luminance menu became available. But the star of the show is the Raptor's 27-inch WQHD (2560 x 1400-pixel) panel, which offers gorgeous picture quality along with a fast refresh rate and HDR400 support. The colorful hue is the only design element that suggests the Raptor 27 is designed for gaming. We check over 130 million products every day for the best prices. Go have a lie down, Internet. Red Dead Online has a new Halloween Outlaw Pass and zombie game mode, Ubisoft Connect will support cross-saves for Assassin's Creed Valhalla and other new Ubisoft releases, Warzone Zombie Royale guide - best loadout, tips, and tricks. Some will hate the bold contrast, but I suspect most people (including myself) will love the look. However, there's a sort of in-picture bezel present that a lot of monitors have nowadays instead. The Raptor is also teamed with an HDR400 rating, itself backed up by a 95% DCI-P3 color gamut for superior quality. © New York, Modern, sleek and glowing with some subtle RGB flair, this is easily one of the best-looking monitors I've reviewed. Elsewhere, the front of the monitor provides a screen that is almost lacking a physical bezel on three sides. By upping the contrast and switching to HDR, we were able to get that figure up to 326 nits, but at the expense of image quality. The latter is roughly in line with the AOC and MSI, and packs a reasonable enough punch when playing games in HDR, but it’s not quite the eye-searing experience you’ll find on other high-end HDR monitors such as Nvidia’s 1000cd/m2 G-Sync Ultimate screens. Somewhat predictably, the Raptor was also great for everyday work and admin. This is the wackiest port setup I've encountered on a monitor. The Raptor is a 27-inch panel that has a suitably 'Razer' name and design, but it backs that up with good-quality specs under the hood. Razer Raptor 27 review: Screen. Future US, Inc. 11 West 42nd Street, 15th Floor, There was a problem. Colors were vibrant, from the Orcs' ugly moss-green Orc skin to their red war paint, which was the same vivid red as the blood that poured out of them when I stuck my glowing blue Mithril blade into their hearts. The bright green flat cables Razer packages with the Raptor stand out against the restrained black monitor. This is a monitor that demands serious consideration whether you're building a new setup or upgrading an existing one. Razer's Raptor 27 monitor has a gorgeous display and a sleek, minimalist chassis to go along with tons of gaming features. We found the Normal (6,500K) setting provided the best white balance, but you can go warmer or cooler if you want. The same goes for the fabric on the back of the monitor, too. That makes the Raptor 27 more vivid than the impressive ROG Swift PG27A (130%) and the Optix MPG27CQ (140%). This might sound just like another baffling acronym to add to the ranks of techy abbreviations, but it's the one to look out for on modern gaming monitors; we are increasingly interested in the DCI-P3 color gamut, as it surpasses sRGB and is now the gold standard for films and screens globally. I also recorded a lovely high contrast ratio of 1174:1 on the Raptor, ensuring lots of detail in darker, shadowy scenes in games and photos, as well as a peak brightness of 357cd/m2 with HDR turned off (which is more than enough for everyday use), and around 470cd/m2 with HDR turned on. In terms of picture quality, the Razer Raptor is right up there with my current best 1440p monitor picks, the AOC Agon AG273QX and the MSI Optix MAG272CQR, offering deep, vibrant colours straight out of the box. Color accuracy is also excellent; The Raptor 27 has a Delta-E rating of 0.3 (lower is better), which is much better than the Optix MPG27CQ (1.02) and the ROG Swift PG27A (1.96). You can turn off the monitor by moving the joystick down. Beyond that captivating panel, the Raptor 27 sports a sleek, minimalist design with just the right amount of RGB lighting and some innovative features that solve cable-management and port-accessibility problems.
