The LG 27UL550 is a very attractive and affordable 4K IPS monitor that is ready to use right out of its box. But I am impressed by this IPS screen presents. Picture quality is great except uneven glow in two of the corners. One of the notable omissions from the LG 27UL550’s capabilities is it’s not DisplayHDR 400 compliant.

And it is OK: the backlighting is equally distributed, the colours are well represented, even if not very vivid. Beautiful large screen monitor. I switched to this from a 2011 30" Apple Cinema Display. Try again. Have tried with a 2018 MBP, too, and it is crisp and bright, though I tend to drop the brightness level to allow for reading spreadsheets etc.

Colours, although accurate, are a bit dull, not very deep (significantly worse compared to colours of my Dell XPS laptop, or any modern smartphone). Then there is no way to easily adjust the brightness - it requires four inputs on the control 'joystick' to change the brightness, then two more to exit the menus. I was quite concerned about the issues other people had faced with this monitor (backlight issues seem to be a common issue), but mine arrived with no issues. Its a Bright beautiful monitor thats looks like a piece of art work on My desk...Of course its not as bright as a more expensive screen but I would never see a need to spend for one as this monitor fits my needs wonderfully, LG makes a great product, No dead pixels, very vivid, Colors and contrast are spot on out of the box...if I am not working I just enjoy having High Res 4K images on screen in the background...its Beautiful and solid monitor with perfect Height and tilt adjustments...Get this screen as a professional you'll love it!!!
