Its interest in the pens is in whether or not they can drive subscriptions to Creative Cloud. ", Cady-Lee found that the tools do a good job of reproducing their real-world counterparts, but he says that the number of tools and the options present for each of them are too limited.

You place it on the iPad, and suddenly a digital ruler appears, shooting parallel lines out across the screen that everything you draw will snap to. "Rendering painting, getting into fine details: it was kind of a nightmare."

Yes i just bought it. They’re both beautiful tools to carry with you, but you'll have to accept that these aren't for getting serious work done. That's a mighty steep price-tag for this kind of tool, with most Bluetooth styluses costing between fifty and $100. There’s Ink, a stylish Bluetooth stylus; and Slide, a slim "ruler" that shoots out digital lines across an iPad when you set it down on the screen. I tried to connect it with another Ipad with the same result, it is obviously the stylus and i will return it.

The result was that it got connected but only for a short amount of time and i couldn't draw (it's like the tip of the stylus isn't working).

Ink and Slide are the first pieces of hardware that Adobe has ever made, and in many ways, the company sees them as insurance for the future.

And as for the entire package?

Is it fully charged? In further comparison with a Wacom stylus, the pressure sensitivity can be hard to recognize by touch. It worked out pretty well when I was following instructions line by line, but it never actually helped me draw anything once I had put down the guide. In the Ink’s primary apps (the Adobe apps), the function button acts to bring up a quick menu to select colours, brushes, and more.

Copyright © 2020 Adobe. I’ve been using Adobe and Adonit’s Ink and Slide for about 5 months now on and off.

i recently bought the ink and slide but i'm not able to connect it with my ipad. For actual artists, Ink and Slide don’t make sense right now.

Adobe is eventually going to start letting third-party developers tap into Ink and Slide, and those developers could make tools that are far more powerful — or more specific — than Adobe’s own. Rather than use Bluetooth — which would require putting a battery inside of it — Slide has pretty much no technology inside. So what'll artists end up using when they move to tablets?

See if you can connect. Then try to connect again. "If 20 different companies make 20 different pens and theirs are better than ours, we'll be thrilled," Adobe’s Michael Gough says. "Sooner or later, the mouse and keyboard aren't going to be enough," Michael Gough, Adobe’s experience design lead, says. Instead, when you place Slide down on the iPad’s touchscreen while running either of Adobe’s apps, the app will recognize Slide's size and touch points and display the ruler. But that appearance is a bit deceptive: its plastic cap chipped in two places after a tumble from my kitchen table, its insides rattle around a bit, and after a month of use, Ink actually stopped working on me, seemingly at random. That’s on me, though, not the pen. Adobe wants Ink and Slide to be capable tools for actual artists, so I asked fantasy illustrator Devon Cady-Lee, who’s made digital illustrations and concept art for the entertainment industry and for games including Dungeons & Dragons, The Lord of the Rings Online, and Infinite Crisis, to see what he could create with Ink and Slide. With the ubiquity of Creative Cloud among artists, one can imagine a future where a world of third-party apps let Adobe's users pull up anything that they can dream of with just the touch of a button, all because they're carrying around a special stylus. Adobe Line is no longer in the AppStore, so don't worry about trying to use Ink with Draw. Designed to make drawing and sketching easier, the Adobe Ink is a fine-tip, pressure-sensitive pen.

If you are trying to balance, place the Slide, and get ready to tap or draw with the Ink on the template created by the Slide, it can be difficult to achieve precision. With a Wacom stylus, you can feel a bit of give, almost like a shock on a car. That all syncs over Adobe's Creative Cloud, which lets you take all of your settings and clippings and bring them into another app (or even another iPad) without having to set anything up.

The tools themselves are also beautifully engineered. "[Steve] Jobs said when the iPad came out that the finger is the ultimate stylus," says Ammunition founder (and former Apple industrial design lead) Robert Brunner. Thank you for your effort and help. Is it working with other apps? To use the right-click function, hold the upper button down and tap on the screen. The opposite is true, too; developers can also build pens that tie into Adobe’s services.
The question is whether Adobe can really make it more than that.

Adobe Ink and Slide review: is this the future of art? The twisting Ink stylus is comfortable to hold, and for the most part feels really sturdy. Like a lot of work went into it. Photoshop even on a home computer isn’t known for its great default brushes, so maybe Adobe just doesn’t get this aspect of things. Both are made of sleek aluminum and white plastic — they look and feel like perfect matches to the iPad. Sketch can’t show a 3D grid, can’t use most of Slide’s additional ruler shapes, and can’t make many adjustments to its brushes.

To Brunner, the appeal of Ink over a stylus for the desktop is that software is built specifically for it — it’s not just another way to drag around a mouse cursor. This is one of the few moments that I find myself wishing that the Ink or Slide had an extra function button, or some other type of function existed, to help with these types of awkward interactions. Starting with face value, when I first received the Ink and Slide, I was designer-‘gasming over the nice packaging. Compared to other styluses I’ve purchased or used, like the Pogo Connect, or Pencil by FiftyThree, the Adobe Ink and Slide looks and feels professional. Comparing those apps to my favourite art app, Paper by FiftyThree, the tools just don’t hold up. As a kid, I owned books that taught you how to sketch basic shapes and forms and then put them all together into simple masterpieces. Line is meant largely for architects and industrial designers, and really takes advantage of the ruler. * If you still can't connect it, if you've done any work, log in with your Adobe ID to Adobe Creative Cloud  to make sure it's synced to Creative Cloud then as long as your work is backed up, go ahead and uninstall the app and reinstall it. The Slide, which acts as a digital ruler, feels a bit small and awkward for me to use.

So who wants to pay almost $200 for the pair? And because the quick-settings menu pops up in the middle of the screen, it isn't really any more convenient than accessing all of those settings the normal way. Solved: hello guys! Adobe is eventually going to start letting third-party developers tap into Ink and Slide, and those developers could make tools that are far more powerful — or more specific — than Adobe’s own. Of the non-Adobe apps that Ink & Slide works with ProCreate of course shines. Carrying a clipping between iPads makes for a great demonstration, but it's hard to imagine how often you'll actually do it. The pen’s pressure levels and the speed at which it can draw are also a bit too basic to do any serious work. the ipad usually only register the tip when the stylus is on / connected right?

The Ink feels almost completely firm to me, though, making it hard to tell how much pressure is enough. His results are really impressive, but Cady-Lee isn't taken with the tools or apps. The app allows you to pull up a 3D perspective grid to help you follow a line all the way back to your scene’s vanishing point, make sure your lines are parallel or perpendicular, or just guarantee that they stay straight. It actually feels a lot like a Wacom tablet’s stylus in use does.

Whenever i turn the stylus on and put the tip on the big dot to connect it, nothing really happens (I hope you know what i am talking about).

Originally released in 2014. In use, the stylus feels nice on the iPad’s screen. I had zero qualms with this. I love using it, I love how it reacts, and I love how it feels in my hand (rare with a stylus).

The Adobe Ink & Slide is a great stylus.

It’s clear that both Line and Sketch are currently too simple to use for any serious work. For his dragon illustration, Cady-Lee used Sketch — the more limited of the two programs, but the one designed for drawing — and he ultimately had to push its limits to get the amount of detail that he wanted.
At one point during my last figure drawing class, turning the iPad to portrait mode, the Ink suddenly started registering the marks I was trying to make an entire inch to the left of the tip rather than right beneath it where it should be. Adobe builds in a completely digital version of Slide into both apps, and in using your finger instead of a pen you're mainly losing pressure sensitivity.

I like the shape of the stylus, I like holding and using it, but an issue exists.

For example: right click on the desktop, a drop-down list will pop up, while on Microsoft OneNote, Lasso Select tool will be triggered.
